Zofia Wóycicka is assistant professor at the Sociological Faculty of the University of Warsaw where she is currently leading the National Science Centre (NCN) research project Help Delivered to Jews during World War II and the Transnational Memory in Making. She studied history and sociology at the University of Warsaw and Jena University and received her doctoral degree at the School for Social Sciences at the Polish Academy of Sciences and at the University of Warsaw (2008). Wóycicka has eight years’ experience as museum practitioner. She worked as educator at Polin – Museum of the History of Polish Jews (2007-2011) and as exhibition curator at the House of European History/Brussels (2011-2015). She was also lecturer at the Historical Institute of the University of Warsaw (2010-2011) and researcher at the Centre for Historical Studies Berlin of the Polish Academy of Sciences (2015-2019), and at the German Historical Institute Warsaw (2019-2022). In Berlin she was part of the HORIZON2020 research team Unsettling Remembering and Social Cohesion in Transnational Europe (UNREST) and coordinated one of the Work Packages. Her monograph Przerwana żałoba. Polskie spory wokół pamięci nazistowskich obozów koncentracyjnych i zagłady 1944-1950 won the First Book Award of POLITYKA weekly in 2009. The book was published in English under the title Arrested Mourning. Memory of Nazi Camps in Poland, 1944-1950 (2013). Wóycicka is co-editor of The Rescue Turn and the Politics of Holocaust Memory (2024, with Natalia Aleksiun and Raphael Utz), Acta Poloniae Historica 128 (2023), Special issue: Mnemonic Wars in Poland (with Magdalena Saryusz-Wolska and Joanna Wawrzyniak) and Memory Studies 15(6), 2022, Special Issue: Mnemonic Wars: New Constellations (with Magdalena Saryusz-Wolska and Joanna Wawrzyniak). She also (co-)authored numerous articles in edited volumes, handbooks and journals including Archiv für Sozialgeschichte, History and Memory, Memory Studies, Holocaust Studies, Zagłada Żydów. Studia i Materiały, and Teksty Drugie.
