The article reconstructs the idea and impact of the new main exhibition of the Museum of Warsaw. The exhibition, opened in 2017-2018, attempts to question the principles of narrative museums. The paper discusses the potential of the exhibition to change the dominant formula of a history museum established in Poland over the last fifteen years. The conclusions are drawn from an analysis of the exhibition, from the Museum’s reports and publications, and from interviews with museum professionals, Warsaw tourist guides and students visiting the exhibition.
